Goo Goo Dolls Street Team

Before you request a new Goo single on the radio, read this little helpful section below so you can help the Goo's out and get their song playing on the radio!

Here are some very basic yet extremely helpful tips on promoting a band or song to a radio station.

Finding the Radio Station Website
- If you don’t know the website for the station(s) in your area, just Google the call letters and city/town and the website should come up.
-
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/page?page=states This website lists radio stations by state. That could also be helpful.

Contacting the Station or DJ
- Most DJs have their own email but many stations now have an email setup specifically for requests. That’s the email you want to use when requesting a song. Now if you have a particular favorite DJ, then email them as well but only maybe once a day during their shift.
- Keep the emails short, sweet and to the point. Do not send more than 5 email a day to the same radio station.
- Vary what stations you email. If there are 5 radio stations in your area, email one a day during the work week.
-
I cannot stress enough how over emailing a DJ or station can easily turn against you and most of all, the band! You never want to spam a radio station with emails about a song and most of all a personal attack on a DJ. I’ve known and interviewed many DJs and one of their number one gripes is over eager fans. Sure, they feed off the public and want to know what we want to hear but not to the point it haunts them! I even know of DJs to get promo packets and not bother opening them and playing a song til a week or so later because of the spam email they’ve received. Is any of it right? No but I can see their main reasoning. We are here to help the band, not hurt them and by their song not getting played is a hurt to them.
